Michael Sammut of Four Eyes Web Design & Sara Schwittek of Shy Siren Jewelry

Meet Michael Sammut of Four Eyes Web Design - Charlotte NC.

đŸ‘‹đŸŒ Hey y'all!

I am beyond excited to launch the new ShySiren.com website--a long time coming & a labor of love!

It truly would NOT have been possible without the technical expertise, professional guidance & endless support of that guy in the photo up there: Michael Sammut of Four Eyes Productions, a web design + development studio here in Charlotte, North Carolina. (Check it out: www.foureyes.com)

This is all means so much to me, both professionally & personally.

See, Michael & I have a long history.

Get this: Michael & I co-founded FOUR EYES together wayyyy back in 1998! I know, right?! 23 years ago! (Was the internet even a THING back then?!)

At the time, I was working as an architect in New York City, and he was a security analyst for a big bank.

Based on not-much-more than a napkin sketch, we bet on ourselves. Four Eyes was born.

đŸ’» With Michael's background in computer technology, and mine in all-things-design--and armed with only youthful energy & blissful ignorance: we ventured forth into this wild world of the World Wide Web (ya know, that "www").

Starting a business was just putting together our website & printing out business cards, right? Ahhhh, we were on our way to being thriving, successful, Young Urban Professionals in the Big City! 😂

đŸ’„ We took a chance, and we worked our asses off.

In retrospect, blood, sweat & tears was just the beginning.đŸ©ž TBH, I'm not sure I would have had the courage to start our business if I had known how grueling some of the days, months, years ahead would be. đŸ˜©

⛈ We weathered so many storms... Employees (a few whom we still call friends decades later), hundreds of clients, several office moves, a fire, a flood, the horrific 9/11 and the months that followed, the following dot-bomb of 2001 & the recession of 2007-08 (10/10 do not recommend.)

We worked with faith in ourselves & determination through it all.

With the kind eyes of distance & time, I recall with a loving sigh our gorgeous light-filled, industrial studio in DUMBO, Brooklyn—still one of my most favorite places on this earth.

Out of the massive factory windows, we had a spectacularly breathtaking view of the Brooklyn Bridge & lower Manhattan skyline. On the days that I had to arrive to the office at dawn, I was rewarded with the most magnificent sunrises. Fiery orange and pink hues danced upon the reflective glass surfaces of the skyscrapers across the East River.

I have gratitude for all of the chapters of my life: I'm grateful for the extraordinary challenges, the amazing opportunities, allllllll the experiences--good & bad--each rich with growth & life lessons.

đŸ™đŸ» A tremendous THANK YOU to Michael Sammut for not only his technical expertise & wiz-bang know-how — but more importantly, for his endless espresso drip ☕ & boundless loving support over the past 25 years! THANK YOU...

Please check out Michael's work at www.foureyes.com.

xoxoxo! -Sara
